Custom Sex Dolls: What the Custom Tax Costs, and How Long You Wait

Straight up: Everything here is true to the best of my knowledge on the day I checked it. Prices, specs and stock change, so I can't guarantee every last detail. The store's listing at checkout is what counts. Fine print.

A custom sex doll cost $300 to $501 more than the identical body already sitting in a US warehouse at Starpery, going by the listings I checked in October 2026. Zelex lists $599 to $1,179 over its in-stock dolls, though I couldn’t confirm those are the same bodies. You also wait weeks instead of days, and the cancel window closes after about one day. Worth it if you’ve owned a doll before and know exactly what you’d change. I would avoid it for your first one.

I call that gap the custom tax. Below is what it costs at three makers, what each option adds, and the five builds I checked, four worth a look and one I would avoid.

Heads up, I make a few bucks if you buy through my links, but that doesn’t change what I tell you. I’ll still tell you which ones I would avoid.

What a custom sex doll is, and who should buy one

A custom sex doll is a doll built at the factory after you order it, to the options you pick. In practice that means choosing from a menu: body, head, skin tone, hair, eyes, breasts, vagina type and add-ons like heating.

Most “customizable sex dolls” work this way: a body from the maker’s range, a head from its catalogue, then you tick boxes. A true one-off with a new face mould is a bigger, quoted job, and in my opinion most guys never need one.

Get a custom build if:

  • you’ve owned a doll and know which three or four things you’d change
  • you can wait a month without checking tracking twice a day
  • you’re sure, because you can’t take it back

Skip it if this is your first doll. You don’t know yet if you want gel breasts (filled for more jiggle) or a removable insert (a sleeve you pull out to wash). An in-stock doll teaches you for less.

The custom tax: same body, built to order vs in stock

The custom tax is what you pay on top of the in-stock version of the same body, in dollars and in waiting. Starpery and Zelex both sell in-stock and built-to-order versions, so you can see it plainly.

Closest match In stock Built to order Custom tax
Starpery 156 cm silicone, E-cup $2,099, US stock $2,600 (Nieve, below) $501
Starpery 85 cm silicone torso $999, US stock $1,299 (below) $300
Zelex SLE 3.0 full-size $1,620 for in-stock SLE 3.0 dolls $2,799, “Fully Customizable” $1,179
Zelex SLE torso $1,000 for in-stock SLE torsos $1,599, fully customizable $599

All prices as of October 2026, with free shipping on every one.

Store facts: Starpery · Type: maker-direct (brand’s own store) · Storefront: online only · Based in: China (maker) · Ships from: the factory for custom orders, plus US, Canada, EU and Australia stock · Ships to: worldwide, “Tax included. Shipping free.” on every listing, DDP (they pay the duties and taxes up front) for most destinations · Canada: CA-stock dolls exist, but custom builds come from the factory, so ask in writing who pays the duty

The Starpery rows are the clean test, because each pair shares one body chart. So the $501 buys the option menu and nothing else. Fair on a doll you’ll keep for years. Wasted on choices you’re guessing at.

The Zelex gaps are a rough guide only, since I couldn’t match the bodies. Its fully customizable sex doll, the SLE 3.0, also showed sold out with no weight printed. Price reference only.

Store facts: Zelex · Type: maker-direct (brand’s own store) · Storefront: online only · Based in: China (maker) · Ships from: US and EU warehouses, and China for custom heads with implanted hair · Ships to: US, Canada not stated · Canada: no Canada stock, so ask about duties before you order

What custom sex doll options cost

The big options in this table run $89 to $500 each, and a flight case is about $800 on its own. These are the add-on prices printed on the listings below, as of October 2026.

Store facts: RealSexDoll · Type: authorized reseller (multi-brand, claims brand certificates) · Storefront: online only · Based in: unclear (lists a San Francisco address with a Hong Kong postal code) · Ships from: built-to-order dolls after production, plus US, EU and Canada stock · Ships to: worldwide, free on dolls · Canada: UPS air 7-12 days on custom builds. Where it can’t prepay duties, it says it covers up to 50% of them, max $150

Material swap (TPE is a softer, cheaper, porous plastic) TPE -$500, ultra soft silicone +$500 S-TPE or Soft S-TPE, no price shown Inspiration 2.0 +$300

ROS means “real oral sex”: a head with a mouth, tongue and jaw built for it. And yes, that’s an $800 flight case, for a doll that’s going to live in your closet.

Tick human hair, heating and the sucking vagina on a Starpery and you’ve added $680, more than the custom tax itself. Zelex’s customizable listing sells a second head at $550 to $800.

That’s how the options stack up fast. Nieve is $2,600 before you tick a box, and those three put her at $3,280. Buyer reports put a custom silicone build at roughly $3,000, give or take, depending on the options you pick. One buyer who spent two weeks on the customizations for an Irontech got cold feet over “3k for silicone”. The Starpery math above lands in the same neighbourhood. Price the whole build before you fall for the face.

Owners in an r/SexDolls thread on what to pick on an Irontech had a clear pecking order, going by their posts, not my testing:

  • I would avoid the electronics. The top reply said auto-sucking options “break crazy fast”, so that sucking vagina in the table is the first box I’d untick.
  • Pay for softness. Softer thighs, breasts and butt got called “definitely worth it”.
  • Know what gel costs you. A gel butt is softer, but owners say it flattens if she spends a lot of time on her back.

On a silicone build, one commenter in a damage-report thread says to ask the maker for wider openings before you pay, because silicone stretches less than TPE. A custom order is the one time you can ask.

Watch for options that cancel each other out. The Roxanne listing below says the EVO skeleton (WM’s upgraded metal frame) “is not compatible with the body heating function”. It also says oral “is not available for TPE head with implanted hair”. So pick your must-have first, then check what it rules out.

Electrician’s note on heating: I didn’t find a wattage or safety certification printed next to the heating option on any of these listings. My Starpery review covers what to ask first.

How long does a custom sex doll take?

Plan on four to six weeks from payment to your door at Starpery, and more at RealSexDoll, against a few days to ship for in-stock dolls. That’s my math from the makers’ numbers, which don’t always agree, so I go with the longer ones. RealSexDoll doesn’t print its production time, so add that to its 15 to 35 days. These are the sellers’ numbers, not buyer-reported build times.

Seller Built to order In stock
Starpery Listing: 5-10 business days production plus 5-12 shipping. FAQ: production “3-4 weeks under normal production conditions”, 4-5 weeks during sales 3-5 business days
RealSexDoll After production, delivery “usually takes between 15 and 35 days” by region. Air to the US 15-20 days, UPS air to Canada 7-12 2-5 business days to ship
Zelex SLE 7-10 days. A head with implanted hair about 45 days, made in and shipped from China. Inspiration line 2-3 weeks Not stated separately

Sources: RealSexDoll’s shipping page and the Zelex listing in the first table.

Starpery and Zelex both send unedited, undressed factory photos and video of the finished doll before it ships. Check every option you paid for. It’s your last chance to catch a mistake.

The cancel window is about one day

At all three of these sellers, your way out of a built-to-order doll closes within 24 hours of payment, and only Starpery’s is free. After that you own it, or pay to get out, whatever arrives.

Seller Inside the window After
Starpery Cancel or change free within 24 hours $1,500 to cancel full silicone, $1,000 hybrid, $100 per change. No refunds once production starts (return policy)
RealSexDoll 95% back within 8 hours, 85% within 24 “No cancellation” (policy)
Zelex Full refund within 8 hours (10% fee off non-PayPal payments), 80% within 24 Can’t cancel. Custom items can’t be returned “unless there is a quality problem”

So if you customize your own sex doll, take your time before you pay. Sleep on it, then order.

Can you get a custom sex doll made from a photo?

Not through me. A custom sex doll from photos of a real woman who never agreed to it is an unlicensed likeness, and I won’t link it, review it or help you find it. That goes for an ex, a coworker, a celebrity or a creator.

Some sellers will sculpt a new face from photos you send. That’s the part of custom I stay out of, so you won’t find those services on this site.

If you want a specific famous face, buy one that’s licensed with the woman herself. My licensed celebrity doll picks only include dolls where the deal is named.

So what’s a legit custom face? A head from the maker’s catalogue, with your choice of makeup, eyes, hair and lip colour. Yvonne’s listing even takes a reference photo for skin tone and makeup. That’s colour matching, not copying a person, and it’s the only kind of custom face I’ll point you to.

Custom doesn’t move my adults-only line either. Clearly adult face and body, or I don’t link it.

The custom sex doll picks (October 2026)

These are the five made-to-order dolls I could fill a full spec row for: height, weight, material, skeleton, price, shipping and where it’s built. Three are Starpery, sold direct and marked built to order. Two come from RealSexDoll, a multi-brand reseller, listed with no stock tag, so I’m treating them as made to order. Ask before you pay. I went off specs, listings and policy pages. I haven’t had any of these in my place.

Pick Best for Height Listed weight Price, shipped
Starpery Nieve Lightest full-size 5’1” (156 cm) 63.9 lb (29 kg) body $2,600
Starpery Wayne Tall build 5’8” (172 cm) 65 lb (29.5 kg) body $2,600
Zelex Yvonne Face and skin control 5’7” (170 cm) 79.6 lb (36.1 kg) $2,249
WM Roxanne Cheapest menu 5’3” (160 cm) 86 lb (39 kg) $1,799
Starpery 85 cm torso Skip it 2’9” (85 cm) 31.3 lb (14.2 kg) $1,299

Starpery Nieve: best for the lightest full-size build

Starpery Nieve 156 cm full silicone sex doll standing, full body, nude, maker photo
Photo: starpery.com

The lightest full-size custom build I could verify, at 63.9 lb in silicone, though Wayne is only 1.1 lb behind.

Spec Nieve
Height 5’1” (156 cm). Bust 90, waist 63, hips 97.5 cm
Weight 29 kg (63.9 lb) silicone, 35 kg (77.2 lb) TPE, from the body chart. Boxed not listed
Material Full silicone default, E-cup. Weight reduction 4.0 swaps some silicone for a foam core
Skeleton Gear Skeleton (Starpery’s name for its metal frame). Standing feet optional
Price $2,600 at Starpery, free shipping, tax included
Built To order, at the factory

What’s good: a real menu. Hard, soft or ROS head, wig or implanted hair (rooted into the scalp, no wig to slip), fixed or removable vagina, gel or solid breasts and butt. The TPE swap even knocks $500 off.

What’s crap: that swap adds 13.2 lb by the same chart, so the cheap box is the heavy one. The chart also shows a headless body, so add the head yourself.

Skip it if the in-stock version of this body works for you. That’s $2,099, shipped in 3 to 5 business days.

Starpery Wayne: best tall custom build

Starpery Wayne 172 cm full silicone sex doll standing in a sheer wrap, topless, maker photo
Photo: starpery.com

A 5’8” body that weighs 1.1 lb more than the 5’1” Nieve, by Starpery’s own charts.

Spec Wayne
Height 5’8” (172 cm). Bust 87, waist 58.5, hips 98 cm
Weight 29.5 kg (65 lb) silicone, 36.5 kg (80.5 lb) TPE, from the body chart. Boxed not listed
Material Full silicone default, weight reduction 4.0, F-cup
Skeleton Gear Skeleton
Price $2,600 at Starpery, free shipping, tax included
Built To order, at the factory

What’s good: on these two charts, 16 cm of height costs half a kilo. Don’t assume every tall doll is this light, though. Check the chart.

What’s crap: no package size printed, so you can’t plan the closet until it shows up.

Skip it if your shower or bed is tight. A 5’8” doll needs room to lay flat and dry.

Zelex Yvonne: best for picking the face and skin

Zelex Yvonne 170 cm doll with teal hair, nude, full body standing, seller photo
Photo: realsexdoll.com

The most say over the face and skin, for $550 less than Zelex’s own fully customizable SLE 3.0. That’s a different Zelex line, the Inspiration series, so it’s not a straight swap.

Spec Yvonne
Height 5’7” (170 cm). Bust 87.5, waist 64.5, hips 94 cm, C-cup
Weight 36.1 kg (79.6 lb) in the spec block. Boxed not listed. Package 159 x 47.5 x 32.5 cm (62.6 x 18.7 x 12.8 in)
Material Silicone, Zelex Inspiration. Ultra-soft silicone listed free
Skeleton EVO or EXP, your pick (Zelex’s two frame designs)
Price $2,249 at RealSexDoll, free shipping, DDP most countries
Built To order (no stock tag on the listing)

What’s good: upload a photo of the skin tone and makeup you want, pick freckles, lip colour, brows and lashes, and choose vaginal and anal depth at 12, 15 or 19 cm. If the face is why you’re going custom, this is the menu.

What bugs me: the page files her under 160-169 cm while the spec block says 170 cm. She’s either 170 or she isn’t, guys. Pick one. It’s exactly why you check the factory photos.

I would avoid it if you live alone up a flight of stairs. Nearly 80 lb is a two-person carry for most guys.

WM Roxanne: cheapest priced option menu

WM Doll Roxanne 160 cm TPE sex doll in white lingerie, seller photo
Photo: realsexdoll.com

The lowest price I found on a built-to-order full-size doll with every add-on priced on the page.

Spec Roxanne
Height 5’3” (160 cm). Bust 81, waist 60, hips 98 cm, D-cup
Weight 39 kg (86 lb). Boxed not listed. Package 150 x 43 x 28 cm (59 x 16.9 x 11 in)
Material TPE
Skeleton Fixed or EVO, both $0 right now
Price $1,799 at RealSexDoll, free shipping, DDP most countries
Built To order (no stock tag on the listing)

What’s good: $801 under the Starpery builds, and you can see what every extra costs before you start. Body heating is $120, oral-capable ROS is $89, and a removable vagina is a no-charge choice.

What’s crap: 86 lb of TPE, and porous TPE needs more cleaning than silicone. Add implanted human hair at $475 and you’re at $2,274, Yvonne money for a heavier, harder-to-clean doll. That’s a bullshit trade.

Skip it if weight matters more to you than price. My TPE vs silicone breakdown does the long-term math.

Starpery 85 cm torso, made to order: skip it

Starpery 85 cm G-cup silicone torso doll, headless, whole torso, nude, maker photo
Photo: starpery.com

$300 more than the US-stock version of the same torso, and the listing shows no option menu at all.

Spec 85 cm G-cup torso
Height 2’9” (85 cm). Bust 79, waist 49.5, hips 88 cm
Weight 14.2 kg (31.3 lb) silicone, from the body chart. No TPE version
Material Silicone, weight reduction 4.0
Skeleton Gear Skeleton
Price $1,299 at Starpery, free shipping, tax included
Built To order, at the factory

What’s good: a 31 lb silicone torso is a great doll. That part isn’t the problem.

The problem: the made-to-order page I checked lists a default build and no paid options, so the $300 buys a wait. Paying extra to stand in line is a hell of a way to spend money.

I would avoid it. Buy the $999 US-stock one in the custom tax table. Or read my torso doll picks for cheaper TPE ones.

Weight and storage: custom doesn’t make it lighter

None of the full-size custom picks get under 51 lb, and the only option with a printed weight change is the material swap.

Why that number: at 51 lb (23 kg), most people have hit a sensible solo limit, and that’s for something compact you can grip. A doll flops all over the place.

Nieve and Wayne sit at 64 to 65 lb before the head. Yvonne is 79.6 lb and Roxanne 86 lb. Only the torso, at 31.3 lb, is comfortably under.

On Starpery’s charts, TPE adds 13.2 to 15.4 lb. Run your build through the lifting check with the head added before you pay, because after a day you can’t change it.

Storage: the two listings that print a box size come in at 59 in (150 cm) and 62.6 in (159 cm) long, and 11 in (28 cm) and 12.8 in (32.5 cm) thick. Under the bed? Only if you want to sleep a foot higher, bud. Measure the gap first.

Cleaning: the options that make it harder

Pick the cleaning-friendly options while you still can, because you can’t add them later.

  • Removable insert: Starpery’s listing says its removable sleeve is “for easier cleaning”. It’s a no-charge choice on Nieve, Wayne and Roxanne, and a spare insert is $30 at RealSexDoll.
  • Body painting: the WM listing warns that with hyper-realistic body painting, “frequent cleaning is not recommended, as the paint will gradually fade over time”. You clean after every use, so think hard about that one.
  • Implanted pubic hair: Starpery says it “may shed easily and is not covered by after-sales service.” Skip it.
  • Material: Bedsider says porous TPE can be cleaned but not sanitized, while non-porous silicone can be both. If hygiene matters, don’t take the TPE discount.

Wash with mild soap and water, dry her fully and keep water out of the neck. Health questions go to your doctor.

Consider this before buying

Skip paying the custom tax on a doll you could buy in stock. Pay it only for options you know you’ll use.

  • Skip the made-to-order 85 cm torso, get the US-stock one. $300 less, days instead of weeks.
  • Skip custom for a first doll, get one in stock. You’ll learn what you’d change.
  • I would avoid the TPE swap on a Starpery, keep silicone. It knocks off $500 but adds 13 lb, and it’s harder to clean.
  • Skip implanted pubic hair and body painting, get a removable insert. Cleaning beats looks after month two.
  • Skip any face copied from a real woman’s photos, get a licensed doll or a catalogue head.
  • Skip a factory build that isn’t prepaid, if you’re in Canada. A courier box from outside the US or Mexico gets only C$20 exempt from duty and tax, so you’d pay at the door. Get it in writing, or read my Canadian doll customs guide.

Decide before you pay, not after. The Leafs taught me patience, and that’s about all they taught me.

Cheers, Craig
