Sex doll accessories sort by when you need them. Day one is water-based lube and a way to flush and dry her. Storage comes next. Heating, wigs, clothes and repair kits wait until you know you want them.

Before you buy any of it, read what ships in the box. Some makers already put a wig, a heating rod and cleaning tools in there.

Heads up, I make a few bucks if you buy through my links. Doesn’t change what I tell you, and I’ll tell you to skip stuff all day.

What each one is worth

A quick verdict on each, and the linked guide has the full how-to.

Lube

Water-based is the best lube for a sex doll, because it’s the one no maker I checked warns against. Irontech says to “always use water-based lubricant and avoid oil-based products”. Tantaly’s care guide says silicone dolls get water-based lube only. SE Doll’s care page says baby oil is fine on TPE, the soft, rubbery and porous plastic most budget dolls are made of. So they don’t all agree. Tantaly sells its own at $17.99 for 250 ml.

Cleaning kits and powder

Buy the kit that dries her inside, because a damp canal (the vaginal or anal tunnel) is where mould starts. Irontech says to let internal areas “air dry completely (this is very important to prevent mold)”. Tantaly’s standard care kit is $32.99, with a squeeze-bulb washer, two diatomaceous earth drying sticks, a lube applicator and a drawstring bag. The bag only fits certain models.

Skip the $32.99 TPE cleaner. The makers in my step-by-step cleaning guide point to mild unscented soap. Skip the $21.99 renewing powder too. Its label lists 90-99.99% magnesium silicate. The FDA says talc is a magnesium silicate with the potential to be contaminated with asbestos, so I’d rather use plain cornstarch.

Storage: bags, hooks, stands and cases

Sex doll storage depends on the doll: a torso lives in its box, a full-size needs a hook or a stand. Tantaly ships its Britney torso in a 22.2 x 17.5 x 11.4 in (56.5 x 44.4 x 29 cm) polystyrene box with a black PVC bag. That box is the storage.

For a full-size, SE Doll’s suspension hook kit is $58 with free standard shipping. It lists no load rating, so ask first. My Robot Doll’s freestanding sex doll stand is $420, stainless steel, rated to 100 kg (220 lb), with no drilling. Get it if you rent. If you own and can hit a joist, the $58 hook is the cheaper route, but only once SE Doll gives you a load rating in writing that’s well over her weight. $420 is a lot of Corona.

Skip SE Doll’s storage flight case. It’s $958 with no size on the listing, which is bullshit for a box. For that money it should come with a doll.

Handheld strokers (pocket pussies) need a cotton bag, since Tenga says a plastic one doesn’t breathe. Hooks, joists and hiding spots are in my full storage guide.

Heating rods

Tantaly USB heating rod for sex dolls, maker photo

A sex doll heating rod is a USB heater for the canal, and the rules on the listing are the safety plan. Tantaly’s heating rod is $21.99. The listing says it runs off a 5V 2A adapter, heats to 112°F (about 44°C), and is for TPE dolls only. It says no more than 30 minutes, and keep the cord connection out of water. Starpery’s heating instructions also say half an hour, then unplug.

I’m an electrician, so this part is serious. In 2019, Health Canada recalled USB heated pads (not a doll product) that “can overheat during use, posing a burn or fire hazard”. In 2020, UL warned about a USB charger carrying a counterfeit UL mark. Neither one is a doll heater. They’re why I’d only run a rod off the 5V 2A adapter its listing calls for, from a brand with a real UL or CSA mark. Stay in the room, and unplug it after. The rest is in my guide to warming a doll safely.

Wigs and clothes

Buy a sex doll wig only once you want a second look, because a lot of dolls come with one. Zelex says its SLE dolls come bald and include one wig.

Clothes are regular women’s clothes, sized by her bust, waist and hips. SE Doll’s FAQ says skip denim and corsets if she stays dressed, since tight or heavy clothing can leave a permanent mark. Light colours are safer. Sizing and fabrics are in how to dress a doll without staining her.

Repair kits

Get a repair kit when something tears, not before, and check your warranty first. Tantaly’s repair kit is $39.99, with a small iron, TPE glue, discolouration cream and four TPE patches. It’s TPE only. The steps are in my TPE tear and repair guide.

Check the box before you buy anything

The mistake most guys make is buying sex doll accessories the doll already ships with. That’s how you get a drawer full of duplicate crap. Here’s what three makers say goes in the box:

  • Irontech: its FAQ says it ships “the Manual, Wig, Cleaning device, heating rod, and clothing with the doll”. A repair kit gets sent separately on request.
  • Starpery: its FAQ says “we provide the vaginal cleaning tools with every package”.
  • Zelex: a free repair kit for minor surface repairs, plus a one-year limited warranty.

Tantaly sells most of this as add-ons, so plan the extra into the price. Add the doll and the gear you’ll actually use in the landed cost calculator before you hit buy.

What owners kept, and what they didn’t

One owner says the cleaning kit is worth having, and three owners in the same thread say the cheap rod isn’t. That’s a December 2024 PSA thread on r/tantaly, so the reports may be older than today’s listings. The poster, u/AverageNornEnjoyer, says “the cleaning kit is very useful to have”, and to skip the rod.

Two replies say the rod ended up unused:

Reports conflict here. Tantaly’s current rod listing says 112°F (about 44°C). The poster says the rod was slow, and a reply written as the seller still recommends rods. Only one of the three names a model, so these could be different or older rods. I haven’t tested one, and the listing is all I can check. The owner side of it, plus the free fixes, is in what owners say about warming a doll.

My call: the one purchase an owner praised was the cleaning kit, which is already on my day-one list. The rod goes last.

Questions guys ask about doll accessories

Do you need lube for a silicone sex doll?

Yes, and make it water-based. Tantaly’s care guide says only water, water-based lube and cornstarch-based powder go on silicone, with no petroleum jelly, mineral oil, silicone oil or silicone-based lube. Irontech says water-based for all its dolls. Two makers agreeing on anything is rare, so I’d listen.

Can I use baby powder on my sex doll?

Check the label and pick cornstarch over talc. Tantaly’s care guide lists talcum powder or cornstarch for TPE, but only cornstarch-based powder for silicone. The FDA’s talc page says talc can be contaminated with asbestos. Cornstarch skips that question. Use a thin layer on dry skin, and never put it inside the canal.

Start here if…

Pick your line, and buy your sex doll accessories in this order.

  • Your first doll is on the way: water-based lube, plus a care kit with drying sticks if the box has no cleaning tools.
  • She’s a full-size: sort the hook or stand before she arrives.
  • She feels cold: a warm room and a lube bottle sat in a bowl of warm water first, never the microwave. Then a rod only if needed, used by the rules above.
  • You want her looking different: a wig and some light-coloured clothes.
  • Something tore: check the warranty, then the repair kit.

Spend your first $51 on lube and drying sticks, if they’re not already in the box. A guy I know spent his on a second wig, and his doll went in the closet damp.

Cheers, Craig
