Types of Sex Dolls: All Five, Side by Side, With the Weights
Heads up, I make a few bucks if you buy through my links. It doesn't change your price or what I tell you. How that works.
On this page
There are five types of sex dolls, from a 5 oz sleeve you hold in one hand to a full body that lists 84 lb or more and gets carried like a person. Pick the type before the face. It decides what you pay and how much you lift after every use.
My verdict: if you’ve never owned anything, test the idea with a handheld. Then make a torso or a butt doll your first real doll, and leave the full-size for later.
Heads up, the links on this page are plain source links. The type pages behind it carry my affiliate links, and they say so up top.

Every number comes from the listings I checked for each type page in October 2026. Prices move, and Canadian shipping and duties vary by store, so the type pages carry the dated details. The cheapest full-size is a 5’2” M-TPE doll at $649.99, listed at 72.8 lb. The cheapest way into a real doll is a 24.3 lb butt doll at $309.99.
What each type actually is
Full-size dolls
A full-size doll is a whole adult woman at roughly real height, with a metal skeleton so she poses. It’s the most realistic type, and the only one you carry like a person. Most are TPE, a soft, rubbery plastic that’s cheaper than silicone. On my full body doll picks page, the $1,799 one lists 86 lb, same as the $949 one, so the extra money buys options, not less weight. Watch for “full size” in titles, too. One torso brand uses it on a doll that stands 32.7 inches tall.
Torso dolls
A torso is chest, waist, hips, vagina and ass, with no arms and either leg stubs or short thighs. The longer cut gets sold as a “half body”. It’s the first real doll I’d point most guys to, as long as it weighs under 51 lb. My torso picks, sorted by weight and cut show how fast that goes wrong. The heaviest is 68.3 lb, most of a full-size’s weight on a doll that ends above the knee.
Butt dolls
A butt doll is the bottom half only: hips, ass and vagina, with stub thighs or full legs. It’s the cheapest doll with a body, and four of the five I checked weigh 41 lb or less. The big split is the skeleton. With one, the legs move. Without one, the position you start in is the one you finish in. The butt and legs-and-butt picks cover both.
Handheld pussies
A handheld pussy is a realistic vagina in a sleeve you hold in one hand. Pocket pussy, stroker, same thing. It’s the cheapest sex doll type here and the easiest to hide. My rule of thumb is that the more real one feels, the longer it takes to wash and dry. My pocket pussy breakdown runs from the $7.90 sleeve up to a 7 lb set of hips.
Heads
A head is a spare part for a doll you already own. It bolts onto a full-size or torso with a neck fitting, usually an M16 bolt. Head-only listings start at a $249 TPE head, but none I checked printed a weight. The table’s 4.4-5.5 lb comes from a full-size doll’s spec sheet that lists its head separately. My sex doll head notes are a fit checklist for now.
The one-rung-down rule
The one-rung-down rule: buy the type one rung below the one you think you want. The rungs, top down, are full-size, torso, butt doll and handheld. Heads sit off to the side, because they need a doll to bolt onto. So if you’re eyeing a full-size, get a torso. Eyeing a torso? Price out a butt doll first.
Across the different types of sex dolls, the gaps get big at the top. The cheapest full-size costs about twice the cheapest butt doll ($649.99 vs $309.99) and weighs about three times as much (72.8 vs 24.3 lb). You can climb a rung later. Going back down means selling a used doll for a lot less than you paid, and nursing a pulled back.
My weight line is 51 lb (23 kg). Past that, most people are better off getting help, and a doll with no handles only makes it harder. Every full-size I checked is over it, and so are three of the five torsos. My guide to what every kind of doll weighs has the full list.
The mistake most guys make is jumping straight to the top rung because the photos look good. Starting with a full-size and “working your way down” is not how money works.
Start here if…
- You’ve never owned one and aren’t sure: a handheld. Under $40 tells you a lot.
- You want a body on a budget: a butt doll. Four of the five I checked are 41 lb or less.
- You want a chest in the picture: a torso under 51 lb.
- You’ve got a ground floor, a big shower and about $1,000: a full-size, and read the weight before the face.
- You already own a doll and want a new look: a head, once the seller confirms the neck fitting in writing.
Climb when you know. Not when the photos tell you to.
Cheers, Craig
